Start thinking about Save the Dates for 2013
Where to Start?
Here are some helpful tips...
Q. Do we have to send a save-the-date?In my opinion, technically no unless you are having a destination wedding or a wedding on a three-day weekend, so plan on ordering save-the-dates. And if you're marrying during high-travel times like a holiday weekend or summer in a beach town, a save-the-date is an expected courtesy. Of course, you don't have to send one if you don't want, but it will give guests the heads up about your wedding plans. Between travel arrangements and busy schedules, sending a save-the-date will increase guests' chances of attending your celebration. And that's the goal, right? If someone receives a save-the-date and will be unable to attend, they are likely to offer regrets far in advance. You still need to send a wedding invitation as a common courtesy.
Q. When do you send them?
As a general rule, it's best to start spreading the news at around six months prior to the ceremony (eight months for a faraway destination). This gives wedding guests plenty of time to book their travel, save a bit of cash, and ask for days off from work. Any earlier, and they may toss the notice aside. Any later, and it might as well be an invitation.

Q. Do we have to send save-the-dates to everyone?
Just to the people that you want to come to your wedding. Even if you've already received confirmations from certain guests, you still need to send them a save-the-date (bridesmaids, siblings, and parents). But remember: Only send to those that you definitely want to attend. Once these are in the mail, there's really no turning back.

Q. What if we send save-the-dates and then change the date or location?
This scenario is very unlikely, since no couple should send out formal wedding information before setting the plans in stone -- but stranger things have happened. In the event of an unexpected change of plans, your best bet is to update your wedding website, pick up the phone, and start spreading the word. You do have the option of sending out another mailing that explains the dilemma -- but a personal, verbal notice is the best way to avoid confusion. (If your wedding guest list is a bit overwhelming, enlist the help of your bridal party.)
Q. Do we need to add “and guest” on the envelope, or can that wait for the invitations?
It's best to be clear about who's invited to the wedding, even this far in advance. Always call your best friend's boyfriend by his nickname? Now's the time to find out what's on his birth certificate. By including the actual names of every intended guest on the envelope, you're less likely to have any assumed invitees (like your third cousin's new boyfriend), or general confusion (is your seven-year-old niece invited?). Being up front about who's invited also gives families with uninvited kids ample time to plan for child care, and out-of-towners time to figure out hotel room shares. ....and always add 'formal invitation to follow'

Client work: Jena and Ryan
Please head over to Jonathan David's site to see more stunning work capturing my clients Jena's and Ryan's amazing wedding in Sydney, Australia.
I had the pleasure of working mostly with Ryan in organizing samples for him and Jena to preview. They had chosen the Tree with birds and Initials design. I loved their colour choices, and was happy that they went with some bold and gorgeous colours for this design.
Ryan was in Dubai at this time, and the wedding was in Australia. So it was all about organization and making sure that samples, proofs and finally their order was done in a timely manner as they both had family and friends coming to their wedding from around the world. To ensure this, the job had to be completed way ahead of their wedding date and had to be shipped earlier than the typical 3 month delivery time frame.
Here's a snapshot of their invite, and again please check out their big day on Jonathan's site, he's one talented photographer and has also captured their day ever so beautifully! If you're an Aussie Bride to be, I highly recommend you check out his amazing portfolio!

Beautiful birdcage wedding stationery
My lovely client, Abby, shared these photos with me. I love it when clients share how they use or display their stationery from Citrus Press. I love seeing how things have turned out and I wanted to share these few pics with you. I love the place cards the most, what a great way to take a simple place card and make it creative and beautiful. Even the detail of the different rows of ribbons can't be missed. Tremendous job, Mrs.W!

A spin on the Wedding Tree Invite
I had a client ask if I could add a quote to my Tree+Initials Wedding Invite for her and place it somewhere in the 'top' of the invite. I thought it would fun and cheerful to add it straight into the leaves - so it connects the birds theme. She loved it!
The quote says: The roots of a family tree grow from the love of two hearts
How true!

The ring is on your finger...
The ring is on your finger and the planning is underway -- time to get your guests in the loop. Your first step: Send a wedding save-the-date card.
It makes everything official! I love how this Save the Date card turned out. The seals are a great touch and finishes off the envelopes and completes the Save the Dates nicely!

Customized Invitation Samples!
Ever wonder about my sample order process? I had a batch of them going out the other day and thought to share the process with you.
First off - my samples are paper and colour customized personally for you. A service that most other invitation vendors do not offer. I feel that in order to get an idea of your invitation you should at least see it in the color you want and the paper. I believe it helps visualize your final invite.
The process is simple:
• Pick any of my designs from my etsy shop.
• Pick a color from my chart or send me a jpg of the colour you really truly want on your invite.
• And...pick your paper. I carry 5 different papers, Matte white and off-white, Metallic white, pearl, and ivory.
Simple, right?
All finished off with a hand-written thank you note! Once that's done it's mailed out to you. You will receive co-ordinating envelopes with your wedding invitation sample all packaged up in an outer envelope so that you can handle your invite and envelopes once you receive them.

Lovely Banners & Bunting Birthday Bash
I had the pleasure of working with Michelle from Blue Dahlia Events on her 30th birthday stationery.
She had chosen the fun Bunting and Banners invite from my shop which I customized for her to use as part of her menus. I designed an array of food, drinks and sweets menu plus lovely cake topper flags.
I loved that she took the banners theme and created lovely banner accents throughout her space. I also love the cake she had - totally inspired by my design.

Invitation made it on 'The Knot' Texas
I'm so thrilled to share with you that my Vintage Peony Wedding Invitation has been featured in the The Knot Texas Spring/Summer edition.
This design was actually one of my first designs for sale on etsy and one that has had long standing requests by brides all around the world. The yellow and gray design has also been the most popular combo and has managed to stay in style and bang on trend with my clients for all these years. It's certainly a timeless-classic.
The liners and the envelope printing is one feature of this design and really helps finish the look. It's the little touches that can make an ordinary invite turn extraordinary.
Whether you prefer luxurious matte white paper or the sparkle of the metallic. This design works well on both types and certainly helps set the stage to your magical day!

Love Birds
Lately, I've had over a dozen orders for this one particular design. How sweet and simple is this design? Two love birds in a tree with sweet heart initials.
Here's a start on one of the wonderful color combos this client wanted. I'll share more combos once I get them photographed.

Celitc Designs at Citrus Press!
Last October I ran a contest through WeddingInviteLove. One lucky person won the contest and I am now working closely with her to design her dream invitations.
She really wanted a Celtic look and feel with a modern twist for her wedding invitations and I hope I have achieved that through these two preliminary designs. One element that she wanted was to include a Celtic Knot, but also wanted it simple and stylish. What do you think she'll go with?
I like them equally, but I hope she goes with the one on the right! I'll let you know and keep updates on the other items she has chosen for her suite. I'll also make these available in my shop for all to enjoy.

Business Logo Design for a lovely Cake Designer
Even though I'm working round the clock on invitation orders, I still like to keep busy by taking on some freelance work.
My client – Melissa L'Abbé of Melissa L'Abbé Cake Design has asked me to develop a sophisticated yet simple logo for her growing cake business. I'm so excited to tackle this project as branding is my specialty. So I do believe she's in the right hands. I'll keep you posted on the designs and the outcome. In the meantime, enjoy these stunning cakes and be sure to check her fan page on facebook. I'm so inspired by her designs, I can't wait to get started on this side project.
The photography is stunning as well - be sure to check out Rebecca Hall Photography.
Both amazing talents are based out of the Toronto area (Canada).
