Ode to the Mason Jar

My ode to the Mason Jar - a timeless wedding trend that is not only inexpensive and eco (glass can be recycled an infinite number of times), but completely full of potential as well. You would think there is only so much you can do with a glass bottle, but I am continually surprised with the ideas people come up with!

You are found in cupboards holding preserves, peaches and buttons.

You are humble and timeless and strong.

And now you are shabby chic.

Coveted by brides with shining eyes and good taste.

You are big enough to quench a summer thirst, yet small enough to fit inside the ‘c’ of a  human hand.

You are versatile.

You light the way.

You adorn.

You look good on paper.

Wedding Stationery Time line from Sarka at Citrus Press Co.

Wedding season is nearing so it's best to start your planning, giving yourself plenty of time to get organized and to keep track of all the processes when it comes to your wedding stationery.

I know that there are many steps to the process and many pieces to keep in mind when thinking of your wedding stationery. There are save the dates, invitations, enclosures, menus, programs and thank you cards etc. It can get overwhelming. So I’ve put together this wedding stationery timeline that will hopefully make it easier for you to plan your wedding stationery. A couple of big questions I always get are ‘When do I send everything out?’ and ‘What do I write on my wedding invitation?’ So, I’m excited to share this fabulous and fun timeline that you should totally print out and keep in your back pocket. How helpful is that?!

Next week: invitation wording tips, I'll tackle the ‘What do I write on my wedding invitation?’!

Lovely Banners & Bunting Birthday Bash

I had the pleasure of working with Michelle from Blue Dahlia Events on her 30th birthday stationery.

She had chosen the fun Bunting and Banners invite from my shop which I customized for her to use as part of her menus. I designed an array of food, drinks and sweets menu plus lovely cake topper flags.

I loved that she took the banners theme and created lovely banner accents throughout her space. I also love the cake she had - totally inspired by my design.

Invitation made it on 'The Knot' Texas

I'm so thrilled to share with you that my Vintage Peony Wedding Invitation  has been featured in the The Knot Texas Spring/Summer edition.

This design was actually one of my first designs for sale on etsy and one that has had long standing requests by brides all around the world. The yellow and gray design has also been the most popular combo and has managed to stay in style and bang on trend with my clients for all these years. It's certainly a timeless-classic.

The liners and the envelope printing is one feature of this design and really helps finish the look. It's the little touches that can make an ordinary invite turn extraordinary.

Whether you prefer luxurious matte white paper or the sparkle of the metallic. This design works well on both types and certainly helps set the stage to your magical day!

My latest order

I wanted to share with you my latest order. It's a combination of two of my designs in my etsy shop.
It's my Lemondrop and Vintage Floral Damask paired up.

Stephanie & David (prefers to be called that) loved the love birds used in the Lemondrop design and the simple floral pattern in the Damask design. I was certainly challenged on how to make this work and come together seamlessly. The answer was in the envelopes. By printing the RSVP envelopes in the floral pattern and then lining it with the same floral pattern certainly made the two invites come together. She also chose very simple colors. I was working with Celedon and Coffee from my color chart. Her paper choice, Stardream Quartz, complimented her wedding dress and elegant vintage theme.

The fonts were also something new. She loved the fonts from my Orchid design (Chevalier font – couples names), so again the challenge was how to make this work since the fonts did not come from either set? Soon things took shape and everything flowed together. Finishing the top of the invite with a monogram tied the colors and theme together. Simple design techniques like using fonts on all the cards and using the colors in certain combinations made this invitation finally come to life. I have to say it's my favourite for the moment. I can't wait to post it for sale in my etsy shop!

Janine & Jon - A Foresty Fairytale Wedding

More photos to share of client work. These are from my hometown of Toronto, Canada!

It's really nice seeing a wedding come together, invitations really do set the stage for a wedding. The birdcage wedding invite really helps show off this theme.

Everything turned out beautifully!  Jessica Lin Photography to view more pictures.
