Minted Suite - Geometic Watercolor Wedding Stationery

So after a few years of not entering anything to Minted Wedding Challenges - I thought this time, why not? Just go for it. Submit what you have and just see what happens. So I did....

Well, a few weeks ago I received a lovely (and very surprising) email saying I won an Editors Pick. I was totally over the moon. So thank you to everyone who voted. I really am truly grateful for all your support.

I've had this design in my etsy shop for about a year. I honestly just changed the fonts from Strangelove Narrow to Bauer Bodoni (always one of my top faves) on this invite to modernize it more and make it more chic from the original (on the left) which is more casual. For the Minted version, I also added a splash of color to the names. I entered a few more which I over-thought and stressed about - thinking they had potential. Guess I was wrong, lol.

Once you do win, the process to finalize them and pass them onto Minted is very quick. There's lots of pieces to finalize and you have the option to do many colorways. I wasn't prepared for the short turnaround time they give you. Plan on submitting? If you're a busy person (like moi!) then keep this in mind when you enter your designs. Especially if you enter tons and maybe even win more than one! You may only get a week or two - tops to submit all your pieces. In total, I submitted 8 designs per colorway x 6. Which means, I did 48 designs! Yikes.

Keep you posted when they go live on minted.com
You can purchase this design from my etsy shop as well if you can't wait for Minted.

Here's a quick peek at the low res 'final suite' that I submitted to Minted this past week. It's a bit crude, but I have to put together a final suite to make sure it worked - and flowed, and it wasn't working out in my head this time. I love using Photoshop to just something like this quickly together to make sure it's working. I think I had about 20 different backers and envelope liners before I went back to the one I have here. I can't wait for it to go on sale in their shop. This is the main design, I also submitted 5 other color ways.

Vote Now! Support Me in Minted’s Stationery Design Challenge

Things have been picking up for me and my shop . New and local Tampa wedding clients, new items in my etsy shop and in the midst of this - Christmas is almost here and just to add some more excitement to my busy life -  a move is happening for us at the end of the year as well! But I decided it was time to throw my hat back into the ring with Minted’s latest design challenge. This contest is for wedding invitations of all types—photo and non-photo; and even letterpress. I have nine designs entered, so please take a few minutes to head over and vote for me! There's also a sidebar link.

Winning designs will be sold on the web site, and I’d love to get minted! You can click on the image below to take you to the entry for voting. Thanks in advance for your support! Fingers crossed. These will be available in my Citrus Press etsy shop.

My latest order

I wanted to share with you my latest order. It's a combination of two of my designs in my etsy shop.
It's my Lemondrop and Vintage Floral Damask paired up.

Stephanie & David (prefers to be called that) loved the love birds used in the Lemondrop design and the simple floral pattern in the Damask design. I was certainly challenged on how to make this work and come together seamlessly. The answer was in the envelopes. By printing the RSVP envelopes in the floral pattern and then lining it with the same floral pattern certainly made the two invites come together. She also chose very simple colors. I was working with Celedon and Coffee from my color chart. Her paper choice, Stardream Quartz, complimented her wedding dress and elegant vintage theme.

The fonts were also something new. She loved the fonts from my Orchid design (Chevalier font – couples names), so again the challenge was how to make this work since the fonts did not come from either set? Soon things took shape and everything flowed together. Finishing the top of the invite with a monogram tied the colors and theme together. Simple design techniques like using fonts on all the cards and using the colors in certain combinations made this invitation finally come to life. I have to say it's my favourite for the moment. I can't wait to post it for sale in my etsy shop!

I had the lovely pleasure of working with a client, Bride in White, all the way in Australia. She had ordered PDF work from Citrus Press and here are the results.

Turned out gorgeous!
